Cantinola Touch 2016 operating and maintenance manual
Hopper loading
The Cantinola Touch has a large tank for pellet storage. Open up the top cover to fill the fuel
in. To reload the boiler, open the chute (closed with knob), pour the fuel in the inlet, close the
slide to load complete. Below is the photo of the cargo compartment.
When loading the hopper, pay the utmost attention to the hot parts of the boiler and do not put
the plastic bags containing the pellet in contact with them.
Pour the Pellet into the hopper gradually to minimize the emission of wood dust in the
environment.
SYSTEM AND BOILER FILLING
After finalizing water connections, it is necessary to fill the system and the boiler. Before
doing this, water hardness and fixed residues should be assessed. If necessary (e.g. if water
fixed residue at 180 °C is higher than 300 mg/l), install a softener ahead of the delivery pipe.
In particular, it is recommendable to ensure that water pH is between 7 and 8 at 25°C. If it is
not so, water used in the system should be treated with suitable chemical additives, in
compliance with regulation UNI CTI 8065/89 and law 37/08 (former 46/90), Presidential
Decree 412 of 28th Aug 1993 and Presidential Decree 551 of 21st Dec 1999. This operation
not only guarantees an excellent conservation of internal surfaces of the boiler's body, but of
the whole system.
It is recommended to check periodically for water refilling, making sure there are no leakages
in the system. Briefly the operations required for filling in the system:
-
open the system sectioning valves;
-
open the air vents of all the radiators fully, so letting the air be eliminated without
creating air pockets;
-
loosen the cap of the automatic vent valve under the top panel of the boiler (see pics 1,
2,)
-
fill up the system very slowly;
-
keep the radiators' vent valves open, even when a litlle water starts flowing, in order to
make sure no air pockets are created.
