3.6 Shift Cable Adjustment 

 

WARNING

 

Pressurized water hitting the reverse gate may cause it to  engage, causing sudden and unexpected 

slowing of the boat. This can cause serious injury or death from occupants being thrown within or out of the 

boat. Adjust the shift link rod to lock the reverse gate, preventing it from interfering with water flow. 

 

CHECKING SHIFT LINK ROD ADJUSTMENT 

Check the shift link rod adjustment in forward shift position. The correct adjustment will position the shift 

cam far enough on the roller in order to lock the reverse gate into forward position. The reverse gate should 

not be able to be forced up towards neutral. Pull on the reverse gate by hand to verify.
