Cutting Shaped Hedges:
Itisrecommended
that hedges be cut
inatrapezoidal
shape,inorderto
preventstrippingoff

es.Thiscorresponds

growthandallowsthehedgetothriveopti-
mally. During cutting, only the new annual
growths are reduced and thus a dense
branchingandagoodscreenwilldevelop.
• Cutthesidesofahedgefirst.Todo
this, move the hedge trimmer in the
direction of growth from bottom to
top.Ifyoucutdownfromthetop,the
thinner branches will move out, which
mayresultinsomeareashavingsparse
growth or holes.
