Minimize power consumption for the DVD-ROM & CD-R/RW

Set the [CD/DVD Drive Power] to [Off] in the [Main] menu of the Setup Utility.
(

)

The drive power remains off when the computer is started up.
The DVD-ROM & CD-R/RW drive consumes power just by being on, even when it is not
being used. Turning this [Off] will reduce the power consumption.
Even if this is set to [Off], if Windows has been started up, the drive power can be turned
on using the drive power/open switch.
If you want to use the computer with the [CD/DVD Drive Power] set to [On], you can also
turn the drive power off using the drive power/open switch when you are not using the
drive. (
