5.4.1
Adapting
First of all you must check the space available in the

wood insert and the technical data sheet. If it needs
adapting by either cutting or altering the inside walls of
WKHH[LVWLQJZRRGLQVHUWEHYHU\FDUHIXOQRWWRXQGHUPLQH
its stability.

must be suitably insulated (or placed outside the area of
radiation of the wood insert), and must be at a distance
form the wood insert of at least 1 cm to guarantee free

5.4.2 Combustion air intake
During operation the wood insert takes in a certain amount
RIDLUIURPWKHURRPZKHUHLW¶VLQVWDOOHGH[FHSWIRUWKH
“Hermetic” series products that can take in air directly
from the outside); this air must be replaced through an
opening to the outside from the room (Fig. 5.4 - PA =
Fresh air vent).
It’s possible to connect the rear combustion air pipe of

If the wall behind of the wood insert is an outside wall,
make an opening for drawing in combustion air around 20-

on the product data sheet at the product technical details.
Make sure the combustion air intake or the version with
H[WHUQDOGXFWLVQRWDFFLGHQWDOO\EORFNHG
A permanent non-closable vent cover must be placed
on the outside of the opening; in especially windy areas
RUSODFHVH[SRVHGWREDGZHDWKHULQVWDOOUDLQDQGZLQG
protection elements.
If it’s not possible to make a fresh air opening in the wall
behind the wood insert (not a perimeter wall), an opening
must be made on the wall in the room where the stove is
installed that faces the outside.
Standard UNI 10683 prohibits combustion air being drawn
in from garages, combustible material stores or places

If there are other heating wood inserts in the same room,
the fresh air vents must guarantee the required volume of
air for correct operation of all the wood inserts

combustion problems may occur due to a lack of
combustion air.
