Setting Up Communications on a PC Using Windows 3.11
Start Windows and open up the Accessories Program Manager Box, by double clicking on
the Accessories Icon. Double click on the Terminal Icon. Using the communications program’s
pull down menu, select
“
Settings
”
. Select the following settings:
COMMUNICATIONS
TERMINAL EMULATION
TERMINAL PREFERENCES
Baud Rate = 19200
DEC VT-100 [ANSI] Local Echo = Off
Data Bits = 8
Stop Bits = 1
Parity = None
Flow Control = None
Connector = COM1
Click on “OK” to accept these settings. The Windows communications program is now in
terminal mode with a direct connection to Com 1.
Setting Up Communications on a PC Using Windows 95/98
Start Windows and go to the Start Icon, then Programs, then Accessories, then Communi-
cations, and finally HyperTerminal. The HyperTerminal Dialog Box will open. Select the
Hypertrm.exe program icon by double clicking on it. The HyperTerminal communications
program will start. (Assign an easy to remember name to the connection configuration file
you are creating - you may be using the same program and connection configuration file to
upgrade Model Two software in the future).
The Connect To option box will open. Select “Direct to Com 1” then click on “OK” to
accept. The Com 1 Properties Box will open. Select the following settings:
Baud Rate = 57600
Data Bits = 8
Stop Bits = 1
Parity = None
Flow Control = None
Click on “OK” to accept these settings. Go to the Windows communication program’s pull
down menu item
“
File”, and then “Properties”. The ‘configuration file name’ Properties
Dialog Box will open (where the configuration file name will be the name you have se-
lected). Select the “Settings” Tab, then “ASCII Setup”
