Stump grinding
•
Remove all foreign objects – such as pieces of wood, stones, wires, etc. – from the
working area before you begin.
•
Take account of the wind direction as it will affect the direction in which dust and wood
chips will blow.
•
Never use the stump grinder after dark. A well-lit work area is essential for the safe
operation of the stump grinder.
•
Always let the stump grinder warm up before putting it into operation.
•
When grinding, use only the section of the grinder wheel
within the 80
o
area shown on the drawing. Never grind
from below and never use the bottommost section of the
grinder wheel for grinding.
•
Do not let go of the handles while the grinder wheel is
rotating.
Tips:
•
Use gentle, pleasant side-to-side movements when grinding stumps.
•
If small roots have to be removed, it can be more efficient to remove these before
grinding the stump itself.
•
If the grinding generates a lot of wood chips, switch off the machine and wait until the
grinder wheel stops rotating, pull the stump grinder away from the stump and remove
the chips. The grinder wheel can also be used to push the chips to one side.
•
To prevent the wheels getting stuck in the hole, move the stump grinder to the other
side of stump or fill the hole with wood chips.
Stump grinding
Place the stump grinder with the grinder wheel close
to the top of the stump.
Root grinding
1.
Make sure to set the throttle at high speed and
the blade will accelerate to grinding speed.
2.
Swing the grinder wheel to one side and lower it
against the root closest to you.
3.
Repeat until a sufficient amount of root material
has been removed.
