SETUP & PREPARATION

OPERATION

WARNING!

THE DIRECTION CONTROL SWITCH

CAN ONLY BE USED WHEN THE SHREDDER IS

TURNED OFF.

Prior to operation

The shredder operates by using a rolling cutter head, the cutter head

rotates and pulls the material past a metal plate which grinds and cuts

the material.
Prior to operation the metal plate will need to be adjusted to ensure

efficient performance. Adjust the metal plate as follows:

1.   Press the rotation direction switch

so it is set to the feed position.

2.   Turn on the shredder by pressing the green

ON button “I” on the on/off switch.

3.   Using the cutting adjustment knob located

on the right-hand side of the shredder (when

viewed from the rear).

Note:

Rotating the knob in a clockwise direction

will move the metal plate closer to the rolling

cutter head, rotating in an anti-clockwise

direction will move the metal plate away from the cutter head.

4.   With the motor running slowly

adjust the cutting adjustment knob

by turning in a clockwise direction,

continue to do this until a scraping

noise is heard (metal plate making

contact with the cutter head). Fine

metal shavings will fall from the

discharge chute.

5.   As soon as the scraping noise is

heard rotate the adjustment knob anti-clockwise 1/4 of a turn. Ensure

that the metal plate is not making contact with the cutter head.

Note:

Do not overtighten as may lead to metal plate being cracked.

6.   Once adjustment is complete check that the shredder is cutting

efficiently by feeding some material into the feeding hopper. Do this

by following the instructions outlined in the “

Shredding

” section.

Note:

When shredding hard material it may need to be put through

the shredder twice, firstly to crush the material and secondly to cut it.

In order to crush material the cutting adjustment knob will need to be

loosened by turning it anti-clockwise half a turn, this will increase the gap

between the metal plate and the rolling cutter head.
Re-adjust the metal plate once crushing is complete.

Direction control switch

1.   Prior to operation the direction

control switch must be set

either to the feed or reverse

position.

2.   When set to the feed position

the shredder will pull material

through the hopper, into the

rolling cutter head and shred

it.

3.  When set to the reverse

position the shredder will

run in the opposite direction

and release any blocked or

clogged material.

In reverse

direction, the power

button must be held

down.

Note:

The direction control

switch will not start the motor, it

only sets the direction of the rolling cutter head.

Note:

If the switch for selecting the direction of rotation is in its

centre position

ON/OFF switch

1.   To start the shredder press the

green “I” button on the on/off

switch.

2.   To stop the shredder press the red

“O” button on the on/off switch.

Note:

The device has a internal zero

voltage switch. This prevents the

device restarting unintentionally after

a power failure.

CAUTION:

TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK,

WE RECOMMEND THE USE OF A RESIDUAL CURRENT

DEVICE (RATED 30mA OR LESS).
