TOOL OPERATION

9

Fitting the Blade

Warning!

Disconnect the plug from the power source before assembling,

making any adjustments or changing accessories. Such preventive safety
measures reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally.

1. Press the spindle lock button (3) and using the blade spanner (25) turn until

spindle lock button (3) engages. Whilst depressing the spindle lock button (3),
turn the blade spanner (25) counter-clockwise and remove blade bolt (18) and
outer blade flange (16).

2. Ensure blade flanges and bolt is clean of sawdust, grease, etc.

3. Retract the lower blade guard (15) all the way up into the upper blade guard

(5). While retracting the lower blade guard (15), check operation and condition
of the lower guard spring.

4. Make sure the saw teeth and arrow on the blade (19) point in the same

direction as the arrow on the upper blade guard (5).

5. Slide blade (19) through slot in the baseplate (14) and mount it against the

inner blade flange (17) on the shaft. Make sure the large diameter of the blade
flanges lay flush against the blade (19).

6. Fit outer blade flange (16). First tighten blade bolt (18) to finger tight. Engage

spindle lock button (3). Whilst depressing the spindle lock button (3), tighten
blade bolt (18) firmly with the blade spanner (25) supplied.

7. Before connecting the saw to a power source, ensure that:

•  the spindle lock button (3) is released
•  the blade (19) rotates freely
•  the lower blade guard (15) operates correctly

Note:

Do not modify blade spanner (25) to elongate it, since it may lead to over

tightening of the blade bolt (18).

Depth Adjustment

Disconnect plug from power source. Loosen the depth adjustment lever (21). Hold
the baseplate (14) down with one hand and raise or lower the saw by the soft grip
handle (23). Tighten depth adjust lever (21) at the depth setting desired. Check
desired depth.

To obtain minimum splintering while operating, ensure that no more than one
tooth protrudes through the timber.

90º Cutting Angle Check

Disconnect plug from power source. Set baseplate (14) to maximum depth of cut
setting. Loosen bevel adjustment knob (10), set to 0º on bevel scale (9), retighten
bevel adjustment knob (10) and check for 90º angle between the blade (19) and
bottom plane of the baseplate (14), with a square.

Bevel Adjustment

Disconnect plug from power source. The baseplate (14) can be adjusted up to 45º
by loosening the bevel adjustment knob (10) at the front of the saw. Align to
desired angle on calibrated bevel scale (9). Then tighten bevel adjustment knob (10).

Because of the increased amount of blade engagement in the work and decreased
stability of the baseplate (14), blade binding may occur. Keep the saw steady and
the baseplate (14) firmly on the work piece.
