RULES LIST
From this page you can print the operating rules governing the Ethernet frames trans-
ported by the PLA network.
Each Ethernet frame has :
•
A source address
(Ethernet source host that emitted the frame).
•
A destination address
(Ethernet destination host).
•
The PLA that injected the frame
into the PLA network.
•
The PLA restoring the Ethernet frame.
Based on these characteristics, the PLA network can :
•
Deny or authorise
transport of the Ethernet frame.
•
Limit
the bandwidth.
•
Count
the frames.
This principle is similar to a firewall. The rules are read in order (top to bottom) until a
rule matching the Ethernet frame is encountered. If no matching rules are found, the
system reverts to default behaviour.
F
CAUTION: As indicated above, the PLA200 looks for the first rule that matches
the frame. The order in which the rules are entered is very important. Access to
the PLA200 can be interrupted if the rules are entered in the wrong order.
After the rules are entered and validated, they are sent to all of the PLAs.
When a new PLA is added to the powerline network, it does not have any rules. To send
the rules to it, simple select an already configured PLA "
RULES LIST OF
" and revalidate
the rules.
If the rules are entered incorrectly, (you cannot access the PLA200), you must reset
to factory configuration. Press the Reset button until the red Locate light flashes (see
illustration page 14).
