Chassis Replacement Instructions

Reattach Cables and Power Cords

1.

Reattach all 

cables

 to the same connections as before, 

with the Client and Storage switches correctly connected.

2.

Attach the 

power cords

.

3.

At the front of the node, press the 

power switch

 to power 

it ON.

Important – Read This Before Continuing

If the RAINcloudOS on the new chassis is different from the 
version on the disk drives, the appliance goes through a special 
initialization and synchronization process that can take up to 

10 minutes

 to complete. During this time, the Status light 

blinks, alternating between a single- and double-blink.

CAUTION:  

Under no circumstances should power be removed 

while the system is in this state! Doing so may render the 

appliance inoperable.

Once initialization is complete, the system automatically 
reboots and the Status LED displays a solid green color.
If the RAINcloudOS versions are the same on both the chassis 
and drives, the appliance boots normally.

Complete the Exchange

Add Node to Cluster

NOTE: If the node was not running before removing it from the 
cluster, contact Overland Technical Support at

1.

Log onto the Web Management Interface and go to 

Storage > Nodes

 by clicking the 

Nodes

 quick link.

2.

Click 

Add Nodes

 and follow the 

wizard

 to add the 

refreshed node back to the cluster.

Return Old Parts to Overland

1.

Place the 

old

 

part

 in the anti-static bag and put it in the 

replacement part’s box.

2.

Use an RMA to return the part to 

Overland Storage
