Manufacturers Statement of Origin (MSO)
You should receive a MSO with your new boat. Most states require that you register the boat
if it has a motor. Each boat comes with a document called a Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin
(MSO). Think of it like the title to your car. It’s your proof, along with your sales receipt, of
ownership. You’ll need both the MSO completed and signed by the retailer and your sales
receipt to register the boat with the State Department of Motor Vehicles or Natural Resources.
