5. Test pressure tightness and checking for leaks with leak detection
spray
N.B. Check the correct test pressure (supplied by the system manufacturer or
component) before performing any tests. Too high a pressure can cause serious
damage to people and equipment upon which it operates. Too low a pressure is
useless for reaching the desired purpose.
a. Having completed start-up and identified the correct pressure test, connect the kit
onto the system on which you operate (1. open the valve on the pipe with pressure
gauge)
b. Through the regulating valve bring it slowly to the desired test pressure
c. Close the shut-off valve on the tube with a pressure gauge. Overlap the red pointer to
the pressure gauge and leave everything to time (5 # 15 ‘depending on the plant size)
in this condition.
d. During this time, check for any possible leaks using the leak detection spray (G-FIND).
e. After this time and having inspected for leaks, disconnect the equipment until discharge
is complete.
Using disposable 0.95L cylinders can result in insufficient cylinder pressure is insufficient for the
required test system pressure. Use a new cylinder to reach the correct test pressure. The residue
contained in the bottle may be used to perform a successive pressurization at lower values.
