8.3. MASTER/SLAVE CONNECTION
The Master/Slave configuration is useful in installations with several SU-114N units and with paging
security (loudspeaker lines with three-wire attenuators). In such installations it is necessary to activate
the paging security when the loudspeaker line is measured, so that the line is loaded with full nominal
power, and the music is stopped while surveillance is in progress. If the synchronisation between
different SU-114N units offered by the Master/Slave configuration does not exist, this effect can be
annoying in places where the sound of different zones loudspeakers can be heard.
The Master SU-114N informs the slaves when surveillance is to begin.
All the SU-114N units will follow the configuration of the TIMING SELECT dipswitch of the MASTER.
In this Master/Slave topology the units must be connected through an Ethernet network. The Ethernet
connection is used for:
Master/Slave synchronisation between SU-114N (Figures 8 and 9).
Configuration and line setting from the PA Manager software (Figure 9).
Reception of the line measurement log (Figure 9).
8.3. GENERAL OPERATION OF AN SU-114N
Amplifier surveillance:
The Protection signals and the 24 VDC of the
amplifier are sent to the SU-114N through the
SURVEILLANCE connection of the series 6 UP
amplifier.
Surveillance of the amplifier is constant. In this
way, as soon as the SU-114N fails to detect the
presence of the 24 VDC or receives the Protection
signal, it generates an alarm that is sent to the
MD-500EM, the UMX-02/0 audio matrix and the
control PC, and the FAIL RELAY contact of the
corresponding zone is activated at the same
time.
It is possible to disable 24 VDC detection through
the PA Manager software (see section 9.1., no.
13).
