You have the ability to present with complications:
Positioning the baby
Breech – placing the baby feet first within the abdomen
Compound Delivery – placing a hand (or foot) by the head for presentation
Positioning the umbilical cord
Nuchal Cord – wrapping the umbilical cord completely (360°) around the baby’s neck
Cord Prolapsed – placing the umbilical cord in front of the baby toward the cervix
Positioning the placenta
Placenta Previa – placing the placenta in front of the baby toward the cervix (marginal, partial,
and complete)
Retained Fragments (also known as Retained Placenta) – having the placenta remain in the birth
canal
Controlling the Postpartum Hemorrhage Control
To simulate a postpartum hemorrhage:
1.
Disconnect one or both the blood tubes within the abdomen.
2.
On the Instructor’s tablet, set the Bleeding to Normal, Impressive, and Maximum.
Trainees may use Bakri and Ebb balloons to treat the hemorrhage.
