The unit does not turn ON.

The sound is not reproduced by the correct
speakers.

Sound from the speakers is too quiet.

No sound is output.

Sound for a specific channel is not output.

No sound is output from the Center speaker
or Surround speakers.

No sound is output from the Subwoofer.

Sound from the Subwoofer is too quiet.

The Midnight Theater mode cannot be set.
The LFE LEVEL mode cannot be set.

The Cinema Re-EQ mode cannot be set.

Troubleshooting

If you have any problems with the unit, please check the troubleshooting table below first.
For any problems not covered in the table, please consult your nearest Onkyo authorized service center.

This unit contains a sensitive microcomputer, which under certain circumstances might fail to operate due to excessive noise interference.
In such an event, disconnect the main plug from your electrical outlet and replace it after 5 seconds.

• Insert the unit's power plug completely to a

power outlet.

• Turn on the amplifier's power switch.

• Check that the audio connection cables are

correctly connected. [See pages 7-9]
(Check that the sound reproduced by each
speaker is correct using the test tone.) [See
page 12]

• Increase the sound volume using the

VOLUME 

s

 button.

• Select the correct input mode by pressing

the INPUT-1, INPUT-2, or MULTI-CH
INPUT button. [See page 14, 15]

• Adjust the output level by using the unit's

VOLUME button and A/V amplifier's
master volume control. [See pages 12-15]

• Check the encoding method of the input

signal. [See page 14]

• Connect the laser disc player via a

demodulator [See page 7].

• Check that the audio connection cables are

correctly connected.

• Check that the A/V amplifier is set

properly.

• Set the "SURROUND", "3 STEREO", or

"PHANTOM" mode by using the LIS-
TENING MODE button. [16]

• Check that the speaker setting is correct.

[See page 10]

• Check that the speaker setting is correct.

• Set the subwoofer output level properly by

using the test tone. [See pages 12-13.]

• Check that the DOLBY DIGITAL indicator

is lit. [See page 16]

• Check that the player is connected

correctly and that the "OPTICAL" or
"COAXIAL" input mode is selected.

• Set the "SURROUND", "3 STEREO", or

"PHANTOM" mode by using the
LISTENING MODE button. [See page 16]

• The A/V amplifier volume control is set to

stereo.

• The listening mode is set to "STEREO".

• The speaker setting is "NONE" or "NO".

• The speaker setting is "NONE".

• The ED-301's subwoofer output level is set

to an extremely low level.

• The playing source signal is not Dolby

Digital.

• The input mode selection is incorrect.

• The listening mode is set to STEREO.
