CHAPTER 2
DESCRIPTION OF THE MACHINE
2.1 OPERATING PRINCIPLE
This machine is a revolving wrapping machine to wrap palletized loads with stretch film. By means
of an automatic wrapping cycle, it maintains the load’s form and dimensions while wrapping it.
2.2 COMPONENTS OF THE MACHINE
A. Machine Bed Unit: it is fitted to four wheels, two single rear wheels and two twinned front
wheels; the two front wheels are directly connected to the directional shaft by means of a
spring which constantly carries out a pulling action to the right.
B. Column: it is the part of the machine that supports the film roll carriage and the control panel.
C. Feeler arm unit: The external rear wheel, which is driven by the motor, moves the machine
which, by means of an arm fitted with a feeler wheel located on the external profile of the pallet
to be wrapped, follows the profile of the ready product.
D. Film roll carriage: it holds and winds the stretch film coil.
E.
Control panel: it contains all the buttons for the control and running of the machine.
It is located on the column. It is built according to the Directives and to the rules in force.
F.
Emergency flexible band unit: The flexible band ( 1 ) is fitted with two limit switches; every time
the machine meets an obstacle, because of the effect of deformation, is activated and
immediately stops the machine.
G.
Directional shaft unit : fitted to the rear wheels with a guide bar and equipped with two forward
and backward travel buttons.
