Troubleshooting
Below are the potential problems you may run into and the possible
solutions. After each problem description, some instructions are provided
to help you to diagnose and to solve the problem.
Problem Action
None of the LEDs are on when
you turn on the router
Check the connection between the AC
adapter and the router.
If the error persists, you may have a
hardware problem. In this case you should
contact technical support.
Cannot access the router via
the console port
Check to see if the router in connected to
your computer’s serial port.
Cannot ping any station on the
LAN
Check the Ethernet LEDs on the front panel.
The LED should be on for a port that has a
station connected. If it is off, check the
cable between your router and the station.
Verify that the IP address and the subnet
mask are consistent between the router and
the workstations.
Initialization of PVC connection
failed
Ensure that the cable is connected properly
from the ADSL port to the wall jack. The
ADSL SYNC led on the front panel of the
router should be on.
Check that your VPI, VCI, type of
encapsulation and type of multiplexing
settings are the same as what you collected
from your telephone company and ISP.
Reboot the router. If you still have
problems, you may need to verify these
variables with the telephone company and/or
ISP.
