STEP 1:

Make sure that the speed control dial

is in the off (center) position before inserting

the battery or motor console and connecting

the wiring harness to the kayak.

STEP 2:

  Place battery into battery box.

Connect red wire to positive terminal and

black wire to negative terminal.  Strap battery

box securely behind the seat.  The battery box

strap goes around the security bar in the tank

well floor.

STEP 3:

With the kayak in the water secure

the front pivots of your console into the

brackets located on the boat by pushing

the unit forward into the brackets.  Using

the Quick-Stand, prop the console into the

raised position so the propeller does not run

aground.

STEP 4:

When at suitable water depth, put

rudder down, and, while holding the console

push the Quick-Stand away from you with

your hand or foot.  Lower the console into

place.  Press and hold the console down and

secure it in place with the knob.

STEP 5:

Attach both kill-switch keys to the

console, making sure the upper kill-switch

lanyard is attached to you.  Have a paddle

placed as a back-up in the clip located on the

side of the kayak and an approved personal

flotation device.

STEP 6:

You are now ready to go.  Use the

speed dial to go forward or reverse and find

your perfect speed.  Use the foot pedals to

control the rudder.

GETTING STARTED

REPLACEMENT PARTS

Replacement parts are available by calling Old Town customer service

at 800-8-KAYAKS (800-852-9257).

Motor fails to turn on or loses power after a short running time:

•  Make sure both kill switch keys are in place.

•  Check circuit breaker on the battery box. The reset button will be out

if blown. Reset by pressing the button back in.

•  Insure that the motor plug is fully inserted in the receptacle in

the boat and that both are free of any corrosion.

•  Check battery connections for proper polarity and make sure

battery terminals are clean and corrosion free. Use fine sandpaper

or emery cloth to clean terminals.

•  Check battery charge, if low return to full charge.

•  With battery disconnected make sure prop turns freely. Also

check behind prop for obstructions and debris. See prop

replacement instructions on page 5.

•  Check that speed control knob is securely attached to pivot post.

•  If this still doesn’t solve the issue, contact customer service.

Motor stops working completely after a short time:

•  Turn the speed control dial to the “off” position. Then continue

normal operation.

•  Insure that the motor plug and battery plug are fully inserted in the

sockets and that both are free of any corrosion.

•  Check battery charge, if low return to full charge.

•  Insure that both kill switch keys are in place.

You experience prop vibration or loud vibration noise coming

from the motor during normal operation:

•  Ensure that the console locking knob is tight to reduce vibration.

•  Remove and rotate the prop 180 degrees. See propeller

replacement instructions on page 5.

•  If prop is damaged replace with the MKP-2 prop kit (see page 5).
