JUMP START INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING
: Please read this manual in its entirety
before attempting operation. Reference your vehicle
maintenance manual before attempting use, as your
vehicle may have certain specifications or complications
that cannot be covered in this product manual.
NOTE
: Always use in a well-ventilated area.
1. Press the Power Button to see the Charging Status
(reference the table above). DO NOT attempt to jump
start unless all 4 light indicators are illuminated.
2. Connect the smart cable/clamp set to the unit, and
ensure the cable connection is fully engaged. The LEDs
on the cable will flash as it performs a safety check.
After the analysis is complete, a blue flashing LED will
indicate a standby mode.
NOTE
: ENSURE the ignition is OFF
3. Check the polarity of the battery posts. The POSITIVE
(POS, P, +) battery post usually has a larger diameter
than the NEGATIVE (NEG, N, -) post. Determine which
post of the battery is grounded (connected) to the
chassis. If the negative post is grounded to the chassis
(as in most vehicles), see step 4. If the positive post is
grounded to the chassis, see step 5.
4. For a negative-grounded vehicle, connect the
POSITIVE (RED) clamp from the power source to
the POSITIVE (POS, P, +) ungrounded post of the
battery. Connect the NEGATIVE (BLACK) clamp to the
NEGATIVE (NEG, N, -) post of the battery. DO NOT
connect the clamp to the carburetor, fuel lines or sheet-
metal body parts.
5. For a positive-grounded vehicle, connect the
NEGATIVE (BLACK) clamp from the power source to
the NEGATIVE (NEG, N, -) ungrounded post of the
battery. Connect the POSITIVE (RED) clamp to the
POSITIVE (POS, P, +) grounded post of the battery. DO
NOT connect the clamp to the carburetor, fuel lines or
sheet-metal body parts.
6. Once connected, the smart cable/clamp will assess the
connection:
a. GREEN LED: the battery can be jumped. Turn the
ignition on within 30 seconds. If the time limit is
exceeded, the unit will return to standby.
b. RED LED WITH WARNING BUZZER: Reverse
connection has been made. Disconnect
immediately and reference step 3.
c. RED LED WITH BEEP: Battery is below 10V.
Check connections and, if connections are
correct, press the Override Button for 4 seconds.
The Green LED should be illuminated. Turn the
ignition on within 30 seconds. If the time limit is
exceeded, the unit will return to standby.
NOTE
: Stay clear of battery during the jump start process.
7. Turn the ignition ON.
a. If the vehicle does not start after 6 seconds, allow
the jump starter to cool for 3 minutes before trying
again to jump start.
b. Check Charging Status before trying again to
jump start.
c. During very cold conditions, the vehicle may not
start on the first attempt. DO NOT attempt to jump
start after 4 consecutive attempts.
8. Disconnect the cables from the jump starter. Remove
the clamps from the battery terminals.
