2: Set-up and Operation

Turn on the IDRaman mini instrument (using pushbutton on the front of the unit) and then plug
the instrument into the computer using the micro USB cable supplied. It will automatically load
device drivers.

Copy the IDRaman Installer folder from the USB memory stick to the computer.

5.

Double click on Setup.exe in the Volume folder.

6.

Follow on-screen instructions to complete installation of the Peak software.

7.

Upon completion of installation,

restart the computer.

8.

Click the Peak software in the Startup Menu. Wait until the system’s red button disappears. You
are ready to take spectra.

9.

Install Tera Term open source software from the USB memory stick for later use during library
building. See Appendix A:

Peak Acquisition Software

Peak Software

is a versatile data acquisition package with built-in baseline and smoothing features for

the most difficult samples. This section describes how to use all of the features available and how they
can be used to acquire the optimal spectrum for your application.

The software provides data storage in the universal ASCII format for spreadsheets or other third-party
analysis and display. Also provided is the popular .spc format used with Thermo Scientific’s GRAMS
spectroscopy software.
