STEp 1:
Make sure speed control dial is
in the off position before inserting battery
or motor.
STEp 2:
Place battery into battery box.
Connect red wire to positive terminal and
black wire to negative terminal.
STEp 3:
With kayak in the water so the
propeller does not run aground, put the
motor into tankwell (fig. 1), strap it down
and plug it in (fig. 2).
STEp 4:
Put rudder down and adjust
foot pedals to your leg length.
STEp 5
:
Make sure you have a paddle
placed in the back-up paddle storage
bungee located on both sides of the
tankwell and an approved personal
flotation device (PFD).
STEp 6:
You are now ready to go.
Clip kill switch to your PFD. Use dial
to go forward or reverse and find your
perfect speed for trolling. (fig. 3)
SKEg pLUg:
The motor can be
swapped out with the skeg plug for
paddling without the motor. (fig. 4-5)

REpLACEmENT pARTS
Replacement parts are available by calling Ocean Kayak customer service
at 800-8-KAYAKS (800-852-9257).

motor fails to turn on or loses power after a short running time:
• Make sure the kill switch tether is in place.
• Check circuit breaker. The reset lever will be angled out at a
60 degree angle if blown. Reset by pressing the lever back in.
• Insure that the motor plug is fully inserted in the receptacle in
the transom of the boat and that both are free of any corrosion.
• Check battery connections for proper polarity and make sure
battery terminals are clean and corrosion free. Use fine sandpaper
or emery cloth to clean terminals.
• Check battery charge, if low return to full charge.
• With battery disconnected make sure prop turns freely. Also
check behind prop for obstructions and debris. See prop
replacement instructions on page 5.
• Check that speed control knob is securely attached to pivot post.
• If this still doesn’t solve the issue, contact customer service.
motor stops working completely after a short time:
• Turn the speed control dial to the “off” position. Then continue
normal operation.
• Insure that the motor plug is fully inserted in the receptacle and
that both are free of any corrosion.
• Check battery charge, if low return to full charge.
• Insure that the kill switch tether is in place.
You experience prop vibration or loud vibration noise coming
from the motor during normal operation:
• Tighten motor tie down strap to reduce vibration.
• Remove and rotate the prop 180 degrees. See propeller
replacement instructions on page 5.
• If prop is damaged replace with the MKP- prop kit (see page 5).
