2 General safety information
Observe the following general safety information on handling the OBO
isCon
®
system:
• The work may only be carried out by lightning protection specialists
who have been trained for the installation of standard-conformant
lightning protection systems.
• If there is a lightning strike, lethal currents can flow through the light-
ning protection system. Never work on the elements of the lightning
protection system during a thunderstorm or if there is the risk of one.
• Lethal voltages can occur during the handling of electrical resources.
Therefore, never work on parts through which power is flowing. Wear
suitable protective clothing and comply with all the required safety
guidelines!
• To install the OBO isCon
®
system, use only components of the OBO
product range, as otherwise there is no guarantee that safe installation
is possible.
• The jacketing of the grey isCon
®
conductor may be painted a different
colour. It does not possess any electrical properties which could be
at risk from paint. This does not apply when the conductor is used as
protection against touch voltages.
• The production method means that metallic objects may have areas
with sharp edges. Wear suitable protective gloves to avoid cutting
injuries.
• When erecting systems for maintaining electrical functionality, take the
necessary fire protection regulations into account. These instructions
do not mention any fire protection standards which are to be complied
with. Read the OBO fire protection guide (order no.: 9134859) for more
information.
• The arresting system and any possible fire insulation must be
matched.
