7.4.1 Clamping the wheel
A foot clamp found on the bottom right corner of the
cabinet is used to operate the pneumatic quick span
assembly (see chapter 3; picture 001, pos. 7). A wheel
can be clamped or unclamped by one press of the foot
pedal. In order to clamp a wheel, press the foot pedal
once and the grooved shaft moves outwards to open
the clamp.
Choose a suitable cone for the rim and place on the
shaft the same as the standard clamping means.
Place the wheel onto the main shaft and holding with
the left hand so that the wheel is as close to the left
fl ange as possible and slide the quick clamp, (which has
an indicator plug incorporated at the front) on with the
right hand making sure it is held only by the gripping ring.
(Careful, do not hold the clamp anywhere else, danger
of trapping fi ngers).
Pushing on of the indicator plug
As soon as the indicator plug on the shaft reaches a
stop, the handle ring slides to the front and the indicator
plug can be pushed onto the rim.
Indicator plug fl ush with rim
After letting go of the indicator plug, the handle ring
returns to the initial position and locks the indicator plug
on the shaft in one of the grooves.
After actuating the foot push-button switch, the clam-
ping tool is closed. The groove shaft is tightened and
clamps the wheel against the fl ange.
Now, the balancing process can be started.
7.4.2 Unclamping the wheel
The quick clamping device is opened with the foot
push-button switch.
Hold the wheel inside the rim with the left hand.
Hold the indicator plug at the handle ring and pull it off
in external direction across the fi rst resistance.
Now, the indicator plug can be removed via the retai-
ners and the wheel can be removed from the shaft.
7.4.3 Zero run on the Quick span machines
The procedure for the zero run is different to that of the
balance machines with the standard clamping means
in that the clamping sleeve is fi tted on the shaft.
The shaft should be actuated outwards and the sleeve
placed on it up to the second groove from the left, after
which the shaft is actuated to the closed position.
7.4.4 Calibration run on Quick Span balance
machines
As with the zero run, the calibration procedure is done
with the clamping sleeve fi tted on the shaft.
The shaft should be actuated outwards and the sleeve
placed on it up to the second groove from the left, after
which the shaft is actuated to the closed position.
