Orchestrate Agent on a Microsoft* Windows* Server 2003 or Windows
Server 2008 (see Section 2.3.4, “Installing the PlateSpin Orchestrate Agent on Other Supported
Operating Systems,” on page 68 ) does not automatically install the Orchestrate Monitoring Agent as
it does when you install it using RPM packages for Linux*.
Beginning with the 2.0.2 release of PlateSpin Orchestrate, a separate installation package is
available for installing the Monitoring Agent on Windows platforms where you have installed the
Orchestrate Agent.

B.1.1 Hardware and Software Requirements
The PlateSpin Orchestrate Monitoring Agent (gmond) can be installed only on Windows Server
2003 or Windows Server 2008 machines where the Orchestrate Agent is also installed. Only a 32-bit
version of gmond is provided, but it will run normally on 64-bit systems. It requires the same
minimum hardware configuration as the Orchestrate Agent. Port 8649 must be available for gmond
to communicate with the agent.
B.1.2 Installing the Monitoring Agent
To install the Orchestrate Monitoring Agent as a service on a local Windows Server 2003 or
Windows Server 2008 machine:

Download the pertinent Add-On ISO from the product DVD.
2 Create a CD from the ISO or use ISOBuster (or a similar tool) to mount the ISO.
3 Browse to the
Windows/
folder to search for the Orchestrate Monitoring Agent.
4 Double-click the Monitoring Agent icon (
gmondsetup.exe
) and follow the wizard through the
setup.
