chapter 4

TESTINg ThE gENERATOR g1 AND FAUlT FINDINg

To test the condition of the generator g1 as a possible fault source, proceed as follows:

1.  Disconnect the push-plug connection (x13/x23 and x14/x24) and test the two yellow cables on the plug x23/x24 with the multi-meter

for resistance. Re-set the multi-meter to test Ohm Ω.

2.  If the Ohm value is between1.8 – 2.6 Ω, the generator is in good order.
3.  Test for a short circuit against earth. Place one test probe from earth, i.e. the casing against a connection. Connect the second test probe

against either x23 or x24. If the measured value reads 0 or <100kΩ » defective.

If the ohmic value at the generator is correct, proceed to check the next possible fault sources,

•  Oil pump electronics A2

•  Oil pump y1

chapter 5

gENERAl INFORMATION AbOUT ThE SENSOR IN ThE OIl PUMP ElECTRONICS A2

The sensor recognizes the following conditions:

•  On recognizing a signal disturbance, the pump cycle time is 3 x 1sec.

•  On recognizing oil  » normal pump cycle time of 1 x 10sec.

•  Possible air cushions in the system are not immediately recognized as a fault code. There is a time window of 15 sec. After that, oil will

continue to be pumped at a cycle time of 0.3sec.

chapter 6

gENERAl INFORMATION AbOUT ThE ExTERNAl MAINS PART

To test the oil pump electronic A2 an external mains part is required to pinpoint the fault and to test its function independent of the built-

in generator g1.  Since most main parts are not stabilized, an exit voltage of 12 V~AC is attained.  In view of the internal rectification of

alternating voltage in the oil pump electronic A2, voltage of 18V = DC is available at the plug x15.

chapter 7

VOlTAgE IMPUlSE AND MEASUREMENT AT OIl PUMP A2

The required voltage supply for the oil pump y1 with a flawless oil pump electronic will only be present for a short time pulse of 0.16 sec. at

the plug (x15). To detect that voltage impulse, a multi-meter with a bar indicator is necessary since a digital indicator would not be able to

provide useful information for this measurement.
