Category of design B (offshore) inspected by International Marine
Certification Institute (IMCI)
Your boat has been certified to be in compliance with the relevant parts of
the Recreational Craft Directive 94/25/EC as amended by Directive
2003/44/EC of the European Parliament of the European Parliament. The
CE mark on your boat means that your boat meets or exceeds applicable
ISO (International Standards Organization) standards available at the time
of manufacture.
Your rigid boat has been tested in regard to stability, freeboard, buoyancy
and flotation according to EN ISO 12217-1 and your inflatable boat
according to EN ISO 6185-3 so that, the requirements for the number of
persons allowed and the additional loading could be determined.
2.1. EXPLANATION OF MANUFACTURER’S PLATE
The manufacturer’s plate, which is fixed at the console, looks like the
following:
Design Category B
The boat was built for the category of design B (Offshore)
Category B: Designed for offshore voyages where conditions up to,
and including, wind force 8 and significant wave heights up to, and
including 4 meters may be experienced.
The significant wave height is the mean height of the highest one-third of
the waves, which approximately corresponds to the wave height estimated
by an experienced observer. Some waves will be double this height.
For craft with outboard engines, mass of the craft in the light craft
(unladen) condition (kg) includes the mass of the heaviest recommended
outboard engine, but in some cases (a small rowing or outboard tender for
example) the craft may be used with or without the outboard. In these
