Using the BayStack 660 Wireless LAN Access Point

BayStack PC Card LEDs Do Not Light

If the LEDs on the BayStack PC Card installed in the access point did not light, 
try the following:

1.

Re-seat the BayStack PC Card in the slot in the access point. Make sure 
that it is firmly seated.

2.

Make sure that the PC card in the laptop computer you are trying to 
connect to is an 802.11 mode card.

3.

Install the BayStack PC Card from the access point into a laptop 
computer and confirm that the LEDs function normally.

4.

If step 3 is successful, return the BayStack PC Card to the access point 
and try to connect to it with a mobile unit. Make sure that the mobile unit 
is set to infrastructure mode and that the SSIDs on the access point and on 
the mobile unit match (default values “Default SSID”).

5.

Check with your Network Administrator to determine if an Access 
Control List is configured on the access point. If so, confirm that the 
MAC address from the mobile unit is entered on the list.

6.

Check with your Network Administrator to determine if WEP is 
required. If so, make sure that the WEP configuration on the access point 
and mobile unit match.

7.

If problems persist, contact Nortel Networks customer support. For

Management Problems

If you have problems communicating with the access point from the AP Manager 
program, run the AP Manager program from a workstation with an Ethernet 
connection to the same segment as the Access Point.

) does not run, check that the workstation has a valid 

TCP/IP configuration.

Check your Windows documentation for instructions on TCP/IP 
configuration.
