How to set up a DDNS
End users with internet access are assigned an
IP address by their internet service provider
(ISP) . For most users, this address is dynamic,
i .e ., changes frequently .
If you need to provide other users on the
internet with an IP address where you can be
reached (for example, if you are a hosting web
service), the constantly changing IP address
would be problematic . A dynamic domain
name server (DDNS) can be used to map a URL
address to your IP address . The ONU can be
configured to provide regular address updates
to the DDNS as changes occur .
1 . On the home screen as shown in Figure 1,
select
Advanced ONT Settings
.
2 . This brings you to a window [Figure 2]
with 12 submenus .
The Advanced ONT Settings menu allows
you to configure the following residential
gateway functions: DHCP, DNS, Firewall,
MAC Filter, IP Filter, URL Filter, NTP, DMZ,
ALG, Port Forwarding, DDNS and Password .
