60805 Model Landscaping Set H0
The NOCH Landscaping Set includes everything for the construction of your own model landscape. The size of the landscape depends on the height of
the mountains. The following instructions should help you to build your own layout. For more information we recommend our Model Landscaping
Guidebook in English (ref. 71913) or the attached free
DVD Model Landscaping Guide
(a German language film about the construction of a model
layout).
Layout Construction
The NOCH Model Landscaping Set is a perfect complete set for building a model landscape. Your model railway should
be ready installed for operation before you build the landscape. Here we would like to give you some useful tips how to
build your layout.
1. Layout Baseboard
You need suitable chipboard or a plywood board to make the layout baseboard. Should your trains run on two levels you
need additional 6 mm thick plywood or some NOCH Corrugated Cardboard ref. 61620 for the track route.
2. Layout Planning, Track Route and Track Construction
First determine the track course and draw a simple track plan. Lay down the tracks on the baseboard according to your
plan and stick them together. To construct the track route lay the plywood or the cardboard loosely under the route tracks.
Draw the line of the track route on the board adding 1,5 cm (0.6 in.) on both sides. Determine the position of the bridge
and mark it on the baseboard. Now cut out the track route along the marked line with a saw and lay it under the tracks
again. Use wooden supporting beams to substructure the track route. Make sure that the track route is high enough so that
the trains don
’
t brush against the track route.
3. Tracks and Electrical Connections
Fix the tracks on your layout with track screws and connect the electrical equipment according to the track manufacturers
’
instructions. Before building the landscape make a first test run to ensure that the trains can run without hindrance.

4. Bridge Construction
Make two bridgeheads from plywood platters or from corrugated cardboard. For this, measure the width of the track line
and the height from the baseboard to the top edge of track line. Glue the platters in front of the left and right end of the
track line. Face the sides with 4 further 5 cm wide platters of the same height. Use the
Basalt Wall
to cover the
bridgeheads. Assemble the
Girder Bridge
and fix it to your layout.
5. Tunnel Construction
Fix both
Tunnel Portals
on the roadway (hot glue would be the best). Build a framework of
Wooden Support Poles
and
Connection Pieces
for the mountain between the portals (see attached instructions
“
Arbeiten mit TERRA-FORM
“
). Make
sure that the train does not brush against the tunnel entrance. Construct the framework for the embankment in the same
way. Now cover the framework with
Crepe Paper
. Cut the crepe paper to 30 x 15 cm pieces and fix them on the
framework with hot glue to cover the surface.
6. Rock Structuring
Create the mountain surface with different rock structures. Use the
Rock Compound Granite
and treat it according to the
instructions on the package. Especially apply the rock compound to cover the glued passages. Let the rock compound dry
thoroughly before proceeding and covering with grass and vegetation.
7. Road Structuring
First draw the road course then fix the
Country Road
on the baseboard according to the instructions.
8. Water Structuring
Outline a lake on the baseboard and copy the outline to the
L
ake
F
ilm
. Cut out the outline of the lake from the film. To
intensify the water colour you can apply blue paint to the baseboard before gluing the lake film on it. Apply some rock
compound on the lake border and let it dry
thoroughly
.
9. Creation of Grass and Vegetation
Remove all dust and dirt from the layout with a vacuum cleaner before you begin to apply the grass. As the grass glue
dries quickly, restrict the area that you want to grass to small sections. Put some
Grass Glue
on the baseboard
moving from the ground towards the mountain. Fill the
Flock Applicator
half with
Spring Grass
and sprinkle the grass
on the baseboard pumping the flock applicator. Because of the electrostatic rubbing of the grass in the applicator the fibres
will stand perfectly upright on the surface.
10. Decoration
Apply the included
Sandstone Boulders
to decorate slopes, lakesides or embankments. The
Lichen
is ideal to create
realistic bushes and ground-cover plants. Finally, put the trees of the
Mixed Forest
on your model landscape.
