ENGINE TEST

When starting cold engine, repeatedly pres the petrol pump, until petrol comes out
through the air filter. Remove all small objects, which could be possibly drawn in by
the  propeller,  from immediate  proximity  of the  paramotor.  Loos  parts of your (and
long hair) are equally dangerous.

Nobody must stand dangerously close to starting engine,

especially not in the propeller’s plane of rotation.

DO  NOT  START  THE  MOTOR  ON  THE  GROUND  BUT  ONLY  WHEN  IT  IS
MOUNTED  ON  THE  PILOTS  BACK  either  with  the  help of  electric ignition  or
with a manual ignition.

Electric start

As no.1.Switch the starter switch ON. Take the throttle into the left hand and press
starter button. The engine should start running within max. 10 s. If not, repeat start
after short pause.

After  starting,  Warm  up  the  engine  for  about  1  min  in  low  and  middle  rpm,  till  it
starts  accelerating.    Then  try  idle  revs, transition from min  to max  revs  and  back.
Switch the engine off.

* Why is the throttle in left hand?
The propeller rotation causes forces in this configuration, which try to turn all MPGs
right. This is normally balanced by tightening the cross strap on the harness before
start, and by left paraglider brake if necessary. This is why the left hand does never
release the left handle and throttle and you have right hand free to control the GPS,
vario or camera.

Start using manual starter gear

The paramotor is started on the back with locked harness buckles with the help of a
second trained person. Turn on the main ignition switch on the right side of the back
part. The trained person supports themselves against the side frame strut using
their left hand and pulls the manual starter gear to start the motor. The person does
not release the starter gear but lets it wind back in. Under no circumstances should
anyone lean onto the protective frame or get close to the protective strings. It is
necessary to count on the definite thrust of the paramotor immediately after start
and the pilot must be ready to turn the motor off if any unusual situation will occur.

Never hold the paramator on the protective frame. Do not lean on the strings.
Always make sure that the switch to turn the motor off is freely accessible.
