6.3 STORAGE REQUIREMENTS
Stored paper must be left in its original packaging, off the floor and away from open windows or heat
sources. It must be stored under conditions as close as possible to its optimum utilization
conditions, using the following guidelines:

temperature between 18ºC and 25ºC
- relative humidity between 20% and 55%.
Storage conditions outside these limits during a significant length of time must be
followed by an appropriate period of reconditioning before printing.
If the temperature difference between the paper storage area and the printer site is greater than
5ºC, it is advised to have a conditioning area near the printer (having temperature and humidity
close to printer conditions) to stabilize the paper temperature before using. The packaging must only
be opened at the moment when the paper is to be used.
The following table gives the necessary conditioning time as a function of the temperature difference
between storage and printing site:
Temperature difference Stabilization time
6 to 12ºC 2 days
12 to 18ºC 3 days
18 to 22ºC 5 days
22 to 28ºC 7 days
The length of time necessary to eliminate a deviation in paper humidity will depend on its packaging,
and must be confirmed by measurement using a hygrometric sword.
