XXX-78400 SENSOR
3. Programming as light sensor
3.a. You wish an action if the value of the ambient light drops below the set light sensitivity value (e.g. a lamp
must be switched on when it gets dark).
PIR
Nikobus module
1. Place the PIR in starting position (see 1).
2. Place the PIR in manual mode. The red LED lights
up.
3. Place the Nikobus module in programming mode.
Select the desired output and mode.
4. Turn the light sensitivity key completely to the right
(sun). After a few seconds, the Nikobus telegram ‘light
sensor on’ is sent.
5. Exit programming mode.
6. Turn the light sensitivity key completely to the left
(moon) and wait for 5s.
7. Place the PIR back into PIR mode (red LED goes
out).
8. The PIR is back into starting position. Additional PIR
sensors can now be programmed.
3.b. You wish an action if the value of the ambient light increases above the set light sensitivity value.
Note:
This option only functions in combination with single button modes.
PIR
Nikobus module
1. Place the PIR in starting position (see 1).
2.Turn the light sensitivity key completely to the right
(sun).
3. Place the PIR in manual mode. The red LED lights
up.
4. Place the Nikobus module in programming mode.
Select the desired output and mode.
5. Turn the light sensitivity key completely to the left
(moon). After a few seconds, the Nikobus telegram
‘light sensor off’ is sent.
6. Exit programming mode.
7. Place the PIR back into PIR mode (red LED goes
out).
8. The PIR is back into starting position. Additional PIR
sensors can now be programmed.
4. Remarks
- The PIR can only be programmed with single or double button modes.
- Programming the PIR by briefly plugging in and out is strongly discouraged as the telegrams of the motion and lighting
detection are then sent simultaneously. This leads to undesired switching of the programmed output(s).
- The use of the following Nikobus modes is recommended:
With stand alone PIR sensors:
switching module: M1 (on/off)
dimming module: M1 (on/off)
With PIR sensors switched in parallel:
switching module: M6 (delayed off)
dimming module : M7 (delayed off)
- For programming automatic sensors (PIR, clock thermostate), the Nikobus software is recommended.
- If all the PIR motion detectors are programmed, you can set the desired light sensitivity and the turn-off delay
by means of the potentiometers.
Programming with Nikobus Windows
The PIR can only be programmed with single and double button modes!
A combination of a PIR and a Nikobus actor behaves similar to a bus push button with 4 control keys.
The Nikobus telegrams that are sent by this combination, are defined as follows:
1. Programming as motion detector
Select channel 1 of the actor 430-0050X:
1A: PIR sensor on
1B: PIR sensor off.
Take into account the following behaviour of the PIR:
- When entering the detection field of the PIR, the telegram ‘PIR sensor on’ is sent.
- After the time set on the PIR is up, the telegram ‘PIR sensor off’ is sent.
2. Programming as light sensor
Select channel 2 of the actor 430-0050X:
2A: light sensor on
2B: light sensor off.
Take into account the following behaviour of the PIR:
- When the value of the ambient light drops below the set light sensitivity, the telegram ‘light sensor on’ is sent.
- When the value of the ambient light increases above the set light sensitivity, the telegram ‘light sensor off’ is
sent.
5. CAUTION DURING OPERATION
- Not to be used to isolate the system (by breaking the circuit)!
- Isolating the current circuit in order to replace defective lamps is only possible by switching off the isolator
switch before it or by switching off the automatic circuit breaker.
6. LEGAL WARNINGS
- Read the complete manual before attempting installation and activating the system.
- The installation has to be carried out by a registered installer and in compliance with the statutory regulations.
- This user manual has to be handed over to the user. It has to be included in the electrical installation file and
has to be passed on to any new owners. Additional copies are available on the Niko website or via the support
service.
- During installation, the following has to be taken into account (not limited to list below):
- The statutory laws, standards and regulations;
- The state of the art technique at the moment of installation;
- This user manual, which must be read within the scope of each specific installation, only states general
regulations;
- The rules of proper workmanship
- In case of questions, you can consult Niko’s support service or contact a registered control organisation.

In case of a defect, you can return your product to a registered Niko wholesaler, together with a clear description
of your complaint (Conditions of use, stated defect…).
7. GUARANTEE PROVISIONS
- Period of guarantee: 2 years from date of delivery. The delivery date is the invoice date of purchase of the
product by the consumer. If there is no invoice, the date of production applies.
- The consumer is obliged to inform Niko in writing about the defect, within two months after stating the
defect.
- In case of a failure to conform, the consumer has the right to a repair or replacement (decided by Niko) free
of charge.
- Niko cannot be held liable for a defect or damage as a result of an incorrect installation, improper or careless
use or wrong usage or transformation of the goods.
- The compulsory regulations of the national legislation concerning the sales of consumer goods and the protection
of the consumers in the countries where Niko sells, directly or via sister or daughter companies, chain stores,
distributors, agents or permanent sales representatives, take priority over the rules and regulations mentioned
above.
