The VT-2300 mobile unit is not asserting control of the relay, thus the connection to the vehicle's
starter is not interrupted and turning on ignition engages the starter for normal vehicle operation.
On State – Starter Interrupt Active
The starter Interrupt is turned on/activated by a special command issued from the Web Application.
When the Starter Interrupt is active, attempts to turn on the vehicle's ignition energizes the Starter
Interrupt relay.
The VT-2300 mobile unit asserts control of the relay and the connection to the starter will be
interrupted, preventing current flow to the starter. In order to restore normal operation of the vehicle's
starter, another command must be issued from the Web Application to release control of the Starter
Interrupt relay, making it inactive again.
Caution:
During the interrupt of the starter a considerable amount of current is grounded through the relay
connections. The relay is rated for automotive applications and, when properly installed, the relay is
powered only when the ignition switch is engaged. If a constant power source is applied (i.e., 12 volts
for 48 – 72 hours), the relay could overheat and damage the connections inside the relay. For that
reason it is imperative that the installer connect the relay according to the diagram supplied in the
install guide.
