A dry-powder extinguisher with a capacity of 6 kg must be kept in the vicinity of the electrical
panel of the machine or at some other accessible point in the room where the machine is
installed, for use in case of possible emergencies.
2.20.
List of required precautions and equipment
Personal safety equipment (to be worn in its entirety during maintenance operations on parts
in direct contact with wastes):
- protective overalls resistant to acids and alkalis (to be hot-washed in chlorine bleach once
weekly);
- disposable gloves (compliant with EN 374);
- face mask (for cleaning vessel compliant with EN140);
- protective glasses and eyewash.
2.21.
Other precautions:
- Washbasin with running water and disinfectant soap; availability of a water can;
- dry-powder extinguisher capacity 6 kg;
- warning signs (including prohibition of smoking and storage of food in room);
- information to operator about hygiene precautions to be taken (for mouth, nose, eyes);
- ventilation of room (10 changes of air volume per hour).
