Troubleshooting
Problem
Cause
Solution
The control LED does not respond
when a key is pressed.
Low or dead batteries.
Replace the two AA batteries.
The scoreboard power switch is
off.
Make sure the switch is on.
(located near the battery
compartment, see Figure 3)
The scoreboard battery is low or
discharged.
Recharge or replace the battery.
Unplug charger, plug charger into
wall, then plug the battery into the
charger. If the LED on the charger
is ON or flashing 50/50 the
problem has been corrected.
The scoreboard will not light.
The battery charge has failed,
indicated by fast blip while
charging.
Replace the battery.
The scoreboard is displaying only
parts of numbers.
The scoreboard is displaying
Function mode information.
Use the FUNCTION key to exit
the function mode or cycle power.
The time is counting in the wrong
direction.
The time function option is set
wrong.
Use the FUNCTION key to
change the direction option.
The brightness level option is
adjusted to a dim level.
Use the FUNCTION key to adjust
the brightness level.
The scoreboard is dim.
The scoreboard battery voltage is
low. The scoreboard will shut
down soon.
Recharge or replace the battery.
If the battery level indicator on the
control is red when a key is
pressed, replace the batteries.
Move the control closer to the
scoreboard.
The control signal is weak.
Move the control to achieve line of
site with the scoreboard.
Control is pointed in the wrong
direction.
For maximum range, hold the
control parallel to the ground and
point it toward the scoreboard.
The scoreboard is slow or fails to
respond to key presses.
Control is not linked to
scoreboard.
Turn the scoreboard power switch
off. Then while holding down the
FUNCTION key on the control,
turn the power switch on. When
the horn sounds release the key.
Brightness level is set higher than
needed.
Use the FUNCTION key to adjust
the brightness level.
The battery is not being fully
charged.
Try recharging the battery. Check
the indicator on the charger to
make sure the battery is fully
charged.
The scoreboard battery runs down
sooner than expected.
The battery is worn out.
Replace the battery.
Using old or poor quality batteries.
Replace the batteries with fresh
heavy duty alkaline type.
The control batteries run down
sooner than expected.
Repeated key presses are
required to get the scoreboard to
respond.

Scoreboard knocked over by
wind.
Stand not secured.
Fold out completely, push into
ground.
