Button Descriptions
The buttons on your Powerline adapters let you do the following:
• Factory Reset button . Press the Factory Reset button for 2
seconds to return your Powerline device to its default factory
settings.
• Device On/Off switch .The wireless access point On/Off switch
turns the XWN5001 on and off.
• Security button . The Security button has a double function—it
secures the Powerline network and also provides an easy way
(WPS) for your wireless client to join the WiFi network access
point.
To secure the Powerline Network:
Once the Powerline adapters are active, you can use the Security
button to add encryption to your Powerline network. Note that
security is not set for Powerline adapter by default. NETGEAR
recommends that you secure your Powerline network to protect
your personal information and media from unwanted access.
To join a secure wireless access point using WPS:
WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) lets your wireless client (such as a
laptop) easily join the WiFi network of the XWN5001 access
point, so you do not need to type the network name (SSID) and
password.
