Using the periodic ratio monitor
This is used to watch for a ratio of ping fails and successes over a number of ping events. For example, the default
settings stipulate that of the last 10 ping events, if 5 of them should fail, the router fails over to the next highest priority
WAN interface. Likewise, if 5 of the last 10 ping events succeed when a lower priority interface is in use, the router will
failback to the higher priority one. This method may be used in conjunction with the consecutive error monitor. When both
methods are used, the first method to meet the conditions will cause failover/failback.
In the Monitor total count field, enter the number of historic ping events that should be used when calculating the failover
fail count and Failback success count.
In the Failover fail count field, enter the number of ping events, with respect to the Monitor total count figure, that must be
reached before the interface is considered as unreliable and failover occurs.
In the Failback success count field, enter the number of ping events, with respect to the Monitor total count figure, that
must be reached before the interface is considered as reliable and failback occurs.
Click the Save button. The Active WAN interfaces are displayed once again, this time showing that the Ping monitor type is
in use for eth.0 and the host which will be pinged.
