7.4.8 Replacing coffee pump and flow meter
Coffee pump and thermal protection variants
The coffee machine is equipped either with a Ulka/Ceme pump with thermo fuse or a
Sysko pump with a thermostat depending on the voltage range.
It is important to know the main features of the different thermal protection devices.
Thermo fuses (1) on thermoblocks and the coffee pump are of the same component
type. As soon as the maximum temperature is exceeded they interrupt the electric
circuit permanently. Like a blown fuse they need to be replaced (together with the
pump).
The "Limitor" (2) is a reversible temperature switch. When a fixed cut-off temperature is
reached, a bimetal disk will snap over, breaking a contact system and thereby inter-
rupting the electric circuit of the pump.
After cooling down and reaching the closing temperature, the bimetal disk will automat-
ically return into its original position and thus closes the electric circuit again.
A tripped Limitor resets after about 30 min automatically.
