When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should
always be followed, including the following:
• Read all instructions.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
• To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plugs or ap-
pliance in water or other liquid. Never touch cord with wet hands. Do not overfill water tank.
Never put the appliance or part of it into dishwasher.
• Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. The appliance is
not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Keep
appliance, capsules and accessories out of the reach of children.
• Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Never touch the cable with wet
hands. Allow to cool before putting on, adding or removing parts, and before cleaning the
appliance. Never use detergents to clean appliance. Do not use steam or pressure cleaners to
clean the appliance. This may damage the appliance to the point of creating a life-threatening
hazard.
• The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may
result in fire, electric shock or injury to persons.
• Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunc-
tions, or has been damaged in any manner. Unplug cord immediately. Return appliance to the
nearest authorized service facility approved by the Nespresso Club for examination, repair or
adjustment.
• Do not use outdoors.
• Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces or sharp edges. Do not
allow cord to dangle (risk of tripping up).
• Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, in a heated oven, or on top of a radiator or
a stove. Always place on a stable and even surface. The surface should be resistant to heat and
fluids, such as water, coffee, descaler, or the like.
• Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into wall. To disconnect, turn any control
to “off”, then remove plug from wall outlet. Do not unplug by pulling the cord.
• This is a household appliance only. It is not intended to be used:
– in staff kitchen areas in shops, offices, and other working environments;
– in farm houses;
– by clients in hotels, motels, and other residential type environments;
– in bed and breakfast type environments.
• Do not use appliance for other than intended use. Appliance is for household use only (non-
commercial areas). Appliance is intended to prepare beverages according to these instruc-
tions. Use only capsules provided by the
Nespresso
Club. The manufacturer assumes no liablity
for damages from use that is not in accordance with the instructions.
• Do not lift lever during brewing cycles. Scalding may occur.
• Always use the milk container with lid and milk spout as included in the supply!
• Do not put fingers under coffee outlet/milk spout/hot water nozzle.
• Never place milk frother on hot surfaces like stove top, or in heated oven.
• Do not dismantle appliance and do not put anything into openings. Never put your hand inside
space for capsules.
• Do not pull rinsing tool up during descaling process. Rinse the water tank and clean the ma-
chine to avoid any residual descaling agent.
• If the machine is out of use for a longer period (holidays etc.) unplug it from the mains.
• This machine operates with the
Nespresso
capsules only, available exclusively from the
Nespresso
Club.
short cord instructions
a) A short power-supply cord or detachable power-supply cord is to be provided to reduce
risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
b) Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if
care is exercised in their use.
c) If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used:
1) The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord
should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance;
2) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding-
type 3-wire cord;
3) The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or
table top where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
Disposal and Environmental Protection
• Your appliance contains valuable materials that can be recovered or recycled. Separation of
the remaining waste materials into different types facilitates the recycling of valuable raw
materials. Leave the appliance at a collection point. You can obtain information on disposal
from your local authorities.
• The appliance and the packaging are made of new materials, that are recyclable.
