Your paraglider
2.1 .
Engineering and Design
The
FITZ ROY aerodynamic profile is a direct result of
N
NEERRV VU URREESS extensive
experience in designing mountain and expedition paragliders. Leading edge
shape and overall wing profile is maintained with technology utilizing special
nylon stiffeners, that are permanently incorporated into the paraglider
material. The use of the nylon rods came about by utilizing innovative
computer shaping (3D Balloning) during the design process. These rods
evenly distribute wing loading and reduce stress at suspencion points as well
as relieve the risk of abrasion damage.
Stiffeners are utilized in two areas on the
FITZ ROY
:
1) in the leading edge
; 2) near the trailing edge. Each section of stiffeners perform a specific task,
but work together to maintain an optimum wing shape during flight. The
result is remarkably easy takeoff and significantly improved performance in
flight, espcecially at higher speeds.
