Troubleshooting Checklist
If the Internal LTO fails to operate as expected, consult the following checklist and verify the Internal LTO
before returning it for repairs. If the Internal LTO is exhibiting any of the symptoms listed, take the actions
indicated.

Does not power on
LED light does not turn on
Make sure that the DC power cable is correctly
connected to the SAS cable’s power connector.
->Make sure that the DC cable is correctly plugged into
the SAS cable’s power connector by removing the DC
cable from the SAS cable’s power connector and
inserting it again.

The Internal LTO is not
properly detected.
Make sure that the SAS cable is correctly connected to
the server and the Internal LTO.
Make sure that the cable is correctly connected to the
interface (HBA connectors).
Make sure that proper cable assignment is done on the
system composition.

The Internal LTO is not
detected correctly.
Make sure that the SAS Controller’s driver is set
correctly.

The backup process is not
performed correctly even
though Backup software
recognizes the Internal LTO
correctly
Make sure that the write protect switch on the cartridge is
not set to prohibit data writing.
Make sure that proper data cartridge is used.
-> Make sure that combination of Internal LTO and data
cartridge is proper. For example, LTO7/8 data cartridge is
used on Internal LTO(LTO8), and so on.
-> Make sure of a usage of approved data cartridge.
-> Make sure not to use expired (old) cartridges.
-> Make sure not to use data cartridges which have
created errors.
A problem with cable/connector connection may be
expected. Please disconnect and connect
cable/connector again to check if it works.
Internal LTO may not be accustomed to an environment,
if the Internal LTO was stored in different environment,
having different temperature, or humidity. Please used
the Internal LTO after having it accustomed to the
environment.
If a backup operation is performed soon after a system
start, especially where the environment is without air
conditioning, Internal LTO may not be accustomed to an
environment (This may happen during an operation
during evening, etc).
Make sure that the backup software is set correctly.
Replace the cartridge with a new one.

The backup process is not
performed correctly.
(Backup software doesn’t
recognize the Internal LTO)
Make sure that backup software is installed correctly.
Make sure to avoid incompatibility of among software. If
some device driver can not be used at same time, either
of the device driver needed to be uninstalled. Please
refer to a user guide from independent software vendor.
Incorrect cable/connector connection may be expected.
Please check again.

The backup process is not
performed correctly. (LED is
blinking).
Refer to the instruction manual about LED.
-> In case, if cleaning demand is displayed, try back up
job after cleaning. If same error occurs, change the data
cartridge.
