You can use your Pocket PC to exchange information with other mobile
devices in addition to your computer, a network or the Internet. The
following connection options are available:
Use the IR port on your Pocket PC to send and receive files between
two devices. If this is the method you want to use, see the following
section “Transfer Items Using Infrared.”

Check with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to see if the ISP
supports receiving e-mail on your Pocket PC.
Connect to your ISP. Once connected, you can send and receive e-mail
messages by using Inbox and view Web or WAP pages by using
Microsoft Pocket Internet Explorer. The communication software for
creating an ISP connection is already installed on your Pocket PC.
Your service provider should provide software needed to install other
services, such as paging and fax services. If this is the method you
want to use, see “Connect to the Internet” later in this chapter.
Connect to the network at your company or organisation where you
work. Once connected, you can send and receive e-mail messages by
using Inbox, view Web or WAP pages by using Pocket Internet
Explorer and synchronise with your computer. If this is the method
you want to use, see “Connect to Work” later in this chapter.
Connect to your computer to synchronise remotely. Once connected, you
can synchronise information such as your Pocket Outlook information. If
this is the method you want to use, please see ActiveSync Help on your
computer or Connections Help on the Pocket PC.

With the Pocket PC, you can send and receive data to and from another
similarly equipped device using the IR communication port. In addition, you
can use the IR port to synchronise data with your computer, in place of using
the synchronising cable. Using infrared (IR), you can send and receive
information, such as contacts and appointments, between two devices.

Send information as follows:
Switch to the program where you created the item you want to send
and locate the item in the list.
Position the Pocket PC and the second device so that the IR ports face
each other. Position the devices within 5 to 50 centimetres apart. You
might want to remove the Pocket PC cover so that it does not block the
IR port (see Chapter 1).

If the units are too far apart or if something blocks the path
between the two ports, data might not be sent or received correctly.
