Removal
To remove a backup fan, prepare as described in steps 1 to 3 of
Installation
, and then perform the
procedure below.
A fan can be replaced even while the power is on (hot swapping).
CAUTION
To safely use the server, observe the caution below. Failing to do so might
result in an injury such as a burn or physical damage. For details, see pages
1-4 to 1-11.

Shock caution
1.
Determine which fan to remove (replace).
You can use a management tool such as EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 2 to determine which
fans have failed. In addition, if the LED for a fan is illuminated while the system is turned
on, it indicates that the fan has failed.
2.
Grab the fan as shown in the figure on the right, and lift it straight up.
3.
To replace a fan, install it as described in steps 5 and 6 of Installation.
