Ac surge protector MOV Replacement
This procedure describes how to replace a defective MOV surge suppressor in the ac surge protector
(Nautel Part # UE61).
1. Turn off the transmitter system and disconnect (disable or lock out) the ac power source that
feeds the surge suppressor’s panel. Use a voltmeter to verify there is no ac voltage present on
the surge suppressor panel.
2. Open the ac surge protector panel and locate the defective MOV (see Figure 1.5 ).
3. Remove the defective MOV, noting it is secured using two M6 nuts. Use a 10 mm nut driver
to remove these nuts. Retain hardware.
4. Locate or obtain a replacement MOV (available from Nautel; Part # UM97). Reverse Step 1
through Step 3 to reinstall the new MOV. When securing M6 nuts, note the maximum
allowable torque is 50 in-lbs (5 N-m). The transmitter system should resume normal
operation.
