Performing a Cortical Stimulation Study
Start the study
NOTE: You can periodically verify the stimulator is operating properly by
pressing the Check Stim button. This delivers a single bi-phasic pulse to a load
and displays the requested current Stimulus Level.
1. When ready to begin the study, verify that the stimulus parameters are
correct on the Cortical Stimulus panel and then press the Stimulus Control
Unit (SCU)
Start button to deliver the stimulation to the patient.
The following information is displayed on the Stimulus Control Unit (SCU)
display:
• Level of stimulation being delivered to the patient is displayed. If the
level is 20% or more higher than the selected level, stimulation is stopped
automatically and an error report is generated.
2. If you wish during surgery, when using the Bipolar Probe you can select the
Continuous mode by pressing the Train Duration button and selecting
Continuous using the Selector knob.
NOTE: If you change any parameters on the Stimulus Control Unit (SCU),
stimulation will stop being delivered to the patient. When done making
