VXI-AT2023/NI-VXI ISC 386/ix Getting Started

Polarized Cables

If you are using a MXIbus cable with a single connector on one cable end and a double connector
on the other end, it is a polarized cable that you must install correctly for the system to function
properly.  Connect the end with the single connector to the AT-MXI and the end of the cable with
the double connector to the VXI-MXI.  Be sure to tighten the screw locks to ensure proper pin
connection.  See Figure 2-13.

When you have properly connected the MXIbus cable, power on the VXI mainframe and then the
PC AT computer.

Note:

Always turn on the mainframe first.  Doing so makes it possible for the PC AT to access
the VXI cards in the mainframe as soon as the PC AT starts up.
