logical address
An 8-bit number that uniquely identifies each VXIbus device in a system.
It defines the A16 register address of a device, and indicates Commander
and Servant relationships.

master
A functional part of a MXI/VME/VXIbus device that initiates data
transfers on the backplane. A transfer can be either a read or a write.
master-mode
A device is in master mode if it is performing a bus cycle which it
operation
initiated.
Message-Based
An intelligent device that implements the defined VXIbus registers and
device
communication protocols. These devices are able to use Word Serial
Protocol to communicate with one another through communication
registers.
MODID
Module Identification lines
movs
Move string command
MTBF
Mean Time Between Failure
MXIbus
Multisystem eXtension Interface Bus; a high-performance communication
link that interconnects devices using round, flexible cables.
MXIbus System
A functional module that has arbiter, daisy-chain driver, and MXIbus
Controller
cycle timeout responsibility. Always the first device in the MXIbus daisy-
chain.
N
NI-VXI
The National Instruments bus interface software for VME/VXIbus
systems.
Non-Slot 0 device
A device configured for installation in any slot in a VXIbus mainframe
other than Slot 0. Installing such a device into Slot 0 can damage the
device, the VXIbus backplane, or both.
