ADC resolution
the resolution of the ADC, which is measured in bits. An ADC with 16 bits
has a higher resolution, and thus a higher degree of accuracy, than a 12-bit

AT E Series devices
these AT devices have an E- toward the ends of their names, such as the
AT-MIO-16DE-10 and AT-AI-16XE-10
B
bandwidth
the range of frequencies present in a signal, or the range of frequencies to
which a measuring device can respond
base address
A memory address that serves as the starting address for programmable
registers. All other addresses are located by adding to the base address.
beat frequencies
A tone or frequency created by the mixing of two separate frequencies. The
beat frequency is usually the difference between the two frequencies.
bipolar
a signal range that includes both positive and negative values (for example,
–5 V to +5 V)
bit
one binary digit, either 0 or 1
bus
The group of conductors that interconnect circuits in a computer. Typically,
a bus is the expansion vehicle to which I/O or other devices are connected.
Examples of PC buses are the AT bus, NuBus, Micro Channel, EISA bus,
and PCI bus.
byte
Eight related bits of data, an 8-bit binary number. Also used to denote the
amount of memory required to store one byte of data.
