synchronous timing
1. Hardware—a property of an event that is synchronized to a
reference clock
2. Software—a property of a function that begins an operation and returns
only when the operation is complete
system integrator T h e party who connects pieces of hardware and software to create a
complete system for the end user
System controller
A module configured for installation in Slot 0 of a PXIbus mainframe. This
device is unique in the PXIbus system in that it performs the VMEbus
system controller functions, including clock sourcing and arbitration for
data transfers across the backplane. Installing such a device into any other
slot can damage the device, the PXIbus backplane, or both.
